Founder's Story
Our founders, Paul and Marjorie, happened to discover Ecuador's artistry and craftsmanship while investigating all the tourist attractions in the coastal area of Ecuador in 2005. Their attention was captured by the local artisans handcrafting Torquilla straw hats. A couple quickly realised that the locals weren't just making hats, but works of art that needed to be shared with the rest of the world.
In the same year, they founded Taytta, a family operated business aimed at creating jobs and stimulating the economies of 400 skilled Ecuadorian artisans while providing quality, handcrafted hats to the international markets.
